How to join beam and floor in revit.

Click modify tab geometry panel join drop down join geometry. Cross section of a column and beam join cross section of a structural floor and slab edge join concrete beams must have either of the following properties to participate in these joins otherwise they exhibit legacy behaviors and must be manually joined. Setback and cutback apply when connecting beams to structural columns. Open a section or elevation view showing the roof floor.

Tile this view with the plan view at the level of the beam system. Select the first geometry to join for example a wall face. The column including its bounding box must have overlapping geometry with the beams of the join for the beams to cut back. If you do not select this option you must make a first and second selection each time.

Any other beams that share the join will cut back accordingly. Draw the roof or floor element. If you want to join the first selected geometry instance to several other instances select multiple join on the options bar. Unlike square off joins miter joins do not cutback allowing geometry to create a flush connection between 2 beams.

They must also be of the same family type. The following illustration shows an example of a beam that is not. Use this to add slope to the roof floor. The 2 beams must be co planar to create a miter join.

In this video you will learn to clean up concrete beam joints if the beam column join tool does not give the desired result.
